Wealthy Affiliate Review 2022 Edition
Affiliate marketing is perhaps one of the most lucrative ways on how to make money from your blog. If you have stumbled across this article, you probably already know what Wealthy Affiliate is and you’re looking for insights on whether it’s a good investment or not. Just a heads up, this is unlike any other “Wealthy Affiliate Review” out there. I will give you the gist of everything behind that payment wall before you spend $49, $299, and even $995.
What Is Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate is a social community and learning platform for affiliate marketers of all levels — aspiring, beginners, and experts alike. It was founded by Kyle and Carson (co-founders) back in 2005 and has since grown its following to roughly 1,000+ members (this is an estimate).
A Sneak Peak Behind the Paywall
As a current member, I can show you what the inside looks like! 🙌 But first, a breakdown of the pros and cons of membership.
Pros of A Wealthy Affiliate Membership
⚡️ Live chat access — a great way to interact with fellow affiliate marketers and ask your burning questions about almost everything
⚡️ 1,000+ Training programs — there’s plenty of online courses and trainings you get access to 24/7, and plenty more being created over time
⚡️ Web hosting package — you can host between 10 to 50 websites depending on your membership status + unlimited email accounts + other enterprise-grade benefits
⚡️ Free Siterubix websites — create between 25 to 50 free staging websites on a free domain before launching live or just explore the WordPress dashboard
️⚡️ 24/7 live support — get help not only from staff but from online members as well
⚡️ Free Jaaxy access — it’s a tool you can use for search engine optimization purposes
⚡️ Promotional opportunities — you can promote yourself to other members if you sell services or products that you think will benefit them; Just be active so you get discovered and ranked within the platform
Cons of A Wealthy Affiliate Membership
❌ It is pricey — you can get a free account but if you want premium access, price starts at $49/month or $495/year for Premium Membership or $99/month or $995/year for Premium Plus Membership
❌ Outdated trainings — for starters, the trainings need a little bit of update. Even though there’s ongoing new trainings and classes coming up, the basic ones are still the same from 2018
❌ Exaggerated claims — for marketing purposes, their claims put people who are totally new to affiliate marketing in great hopes of making money almost to the point of selling the dream; not the product, service, or idea
❌ Needs expansion — I understand that the service is all about affiliate marketing only, but there’s a lot of factors not addressed or if any, less talked about — SEO, branding, social media, etc.
❌ WordPress only — if you take advantage of the web hosting included in the membership, the only supported platform is WordPress
❌ Expensive domain prices — if you buy your domain through Wealthy Affiliate, domains are priced at $14.95 even with limited TLD choices
The Mysterious Controversy Behind Wealthy Affiliate
The website has been controversial because of the rampant “Is Wealthy Affiliate A Scam?” reviews by people who write about it (both members and non-members alike).
Why is that, you may ask?
First, if you know SEO, you would probably want to rank high on that keyword, which is why a lot of writers utilize it. It’s so hard to not click and read, right? Clickbait as they coin it.
Second, their membership is a little bit pricey where some argue that the content isn’t worth what they’re charging for. Some claim that they’re outdated, while some say that their training programs contain bad advice and misleading claims.
I cannot speak fully in defense nor agreement with what other people say about the program. However, I agree that the initial trainings are indeed outdated and in need of an update. For example, I have joined the program back in 2018 and the content on the Starter Trainings are still the same such as “The Online Entrepreneur Certification”. No change.
Behind the Paywall As A Premium Member
There is a wealth of information to digest in the platform and many more are being added as time goes by. I am a current member, so I would say that it benefits me more than the opposite. I actually bought back in during Black Friday after being away for a long time because it’s freaking expensive.
Should you buy in or no? I would say yes (on Black Friday 😅) if you have the resources. Otherwise, I would go on with my life and pursue other ventures until I can afford the Premium membership at the very least.
One trick you could also do is sign up for a free account because then, you’ll get a discounted offer to join Premium membership at $19 for the first month instead of $49. Or, the upsell is to opt for Premium Plus for $30 instead of $99 (for the first month). This is a great way to check out the inside without shelling out your soul to the devil. 😈
If you are in the process of creating a website or blog and wondering if Wordpress is for you, you can use Siterubix to create a free website which is hosted on WordPress so you can play around and learn about it for free.
